Building Blocks

This sculpture is about all children being the foundations, the building blocks to life. I've tried to represent their innocence, their colourfulness, their individuality. My thoughts also included the feeling of my own childhood having been robbed of all the normal freedoms and experiences especially the importance of there being no fear and pressure.

What we are and how we are is what they see as being normal whatever that is and which is why I feel very strongly about being what you are and what god has made you. If not we would all be the same and incredibly boring.

They also as children enjoyed the game of building and knocking down these type of blocks. The simple things with parents involved are often the best.

What we are to children and what we teach them is what society becomes.
