Looking Glass

Through the Looking Glass
This sculpture is a representation of the world It has a mirror inside allowing the viewer a view of themselves it provokes ideas of responsibility unity and cooperation. It's constructed of sheets of news paper made from copper with certain news stories on it Gandhi, 9/11, Nixon, assassination, etc. There is also an interactive side where the pages have been left to allow public comment on similar subjects this was all thought up at the concept some years ago and with each panel being wipe clean it can be re written at anytime and so remains interactive all its life. Its also meant to encourage cooperative street art within its framework. The need for a suitable site is paramount to this working properly. Suggestions would be a nature park, gallery, public space etc The work is to be shown at a later date hopefully soon!!

This is a 4x4 foot copper plate construction and has a set of mirrors inside so as one looks into its interior a reflection of the viewer and the structure appears.
It is a representation of the planet and for me demonstrates the relationship between the two subjects of the viewer and the planet, the beauty of both and the interaction of all. In itself forming a point of comunication between myself and the viewer regarding the subject.
This sculpture is to be cast in either bronze or brass using news paper shaped sections illustrated with certain events and comments but also pages left to be written on by public with sign saying please say what you want and choose one sheet per person, done by arrangement. Inside is a reflecting mirror with five sides.
